About Carpool

Carpool is the logistics infrastructure powering the modern car economy. We combine a proprietary technology platform with a vetted carrier network of 13,000+ transporters to move 200,000+ vehicles annually for dealerships, auctions, OEMs, and fleets nationwide. Headquartered in Atlanta, Carpool is one of the fastest-growing companies in vehicle logistics — and we’re building the team to match.

The Role

Carpool is hiring a Junior Reports Developer to help build the reporting systems that make the business visible: financial reports, at-risk account views, load tracking dashboards, and the data workflows behind them. You’ll work closely with your manager, a mentor, and stakeholders in Finance, Operations, and other teams to turn business questions into accurate SQL, Laravel/Livewire reporting features, PHPUnit tests, and QuickSight dashboards. This is an early-career engineering role for someone who is careful with numbers, hungry to learn, and ready to use AI tools thoughtfully without outsourcing their judgment.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain reporting features in the TMS, starting with Monthly Financials and expanding into At Risk Accounts, Load Tracking, and other business-critical report areas.
  • Write SQL for joins, aggregations, computed columns, window functions, exports, and financial calculations that stakeholders can trust.
  • Add report columns, filters, formatting, CSV export fields, and Livewire/Blade UI updates that make reports easier to use on a normal workday.
  • Write PHPUnit feature tests for happy paths, filters, edge cases, and calculations so reporting changes do not quietly break later.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and product stakeholders to understand how reports are used, scope new metrics, and validate numbers before shipping.
  • Build or modify Amazon QuickSight dashboards tied to real business KPIs, with support from senior team members as you ramp.
  • Use Cursor and Codex to navigate the codebase, scaffold queries and tests, and explore unfamiliar patterns, while reviewing generated code line by line.
  • Participate in code review, team demos, planning, and documentation so what you learn becomes easier for the next person to pick up.

What You Bring

  • A strong SQL foundation: joins, group by, aggregations, window functions, EXPLAIN, and enough curiosity to understand where each number comes from.
  • Hands-on experience with PHP, Laravel, or a comparable MVC framework, plus interest in growing with Eloquent, migrations, Blade, Livewire, and PHPUnit.
  • Care for data correctness. You double-check calculations, sanity-check edge cases, and do not ship a number you cannot explain.
  • A testing mindset: you understand why reports need coverage and are willing to write tests that catch real regressions, not just prove code ran once.
  • Clear communication habits: specific questions, useful PR descriptions, written summaries of stakeholder conversations, and early escalation when you get stuck.
  • Comfort learning with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Codex, Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude, paired with the discipline to review output critically.
  • Bonus points for QuickSight, dashboarding, MySQL performance work, Laravel Sail, GitHub Actions, logistics, finance, operations, or marketplace reporting experience.

Compensation

Carpool offers a competitive compensation package: base salary and comprehensive benefits. We’re a venture-backed company headquartered in Buckhead at Atlanta Tech Village (ATV), a startup community with mentors and advisors built in. Carpool Logistics is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Why Carpool

This role gives you a structured path into real reporting engineering. You will start with focused, high-value report work, learn from recent PRs and senior reviewers, and grow toward owning full reporting features end to end.

  • Ship work the business actually uses, from Monthly Financials to At Risk Accounts to Load Tracking, instead of building reports that disappear into a folder.
  • Learn close to the source: Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders will show you how reporting decisions affect daily work.
  • Grow with a clear 30/60/90 ramp, mentor pairing, code review, stakeholder shadowing, and increasingly meaningful ownership as you prove readiness.
  • Build depth across SQL, Laravel, Livewire, PHPUnit, QuickSight, and performance basics while working inside a modern TMS product.
  • Join an AI-forward engineering culture where Cursor and Codex are expected tools, but correctness, tests, and human judgment still carry the day.
