The engineering team at SwapRetail is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us transition from a scrappy startup into an efficient business. Our mission as a team is to get our retailer platform ready for a globally known accelerator program this March, it’s an exciting time forus! You’ll work with our engineers, QA team and company leadership to grow the team from a Seed to Series A startup. We are looking for someone who is a driven person and self starter who can take on ownership responsibilities without being micromanaged. Day To Day, You'll

• Collaborate with the engineering team, design & contractors to build the next version of our retailer and brand B2B marketplace
• Influence the technical direction for the team and strategic direction of the product
• Work with the Product Manager and Head of Engineering to deliver tools & features for our customers and for the team at SwapRetail
• Work with Frontend development to deliver updates to our API
• Have ownership over various aspects of our backend architecture and guide the team on best practices and architecture decisions
• Develop new features and address bug reports from QA on our Django REST API application

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Has 5+ years of backend development experience
• Has experience collaborating with a wide range of teams and job functions
• Has experience developing Python & Django applications deployed in Docker
• Has experience designing high performance RESTful APIs using Django Rest Framework
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Is an advocate for test driven development
• Has experience with Agile methodologies

It Would Be Amazing If

• You have experience leading cross-team projects
• You have experience working with the Shopify API
• You have experience working on production code in React or Ruby
• You have experience with AWS services, preferably Elastic Beanstalk & Kubernetes
• You have experience working with Elasticsearch
• You have experience working with an early(ish) stage startup
